Third-Party Independence and Neutrality

Forest2Market is a neutral and independent, third-party reporting service. We don't buy or sell timberland, timber or wood fiber of any kind.

Anti-Trust Compliance

Because we report prices and produce benchmarks, Forest2Market is required to adhere to the U.S. Justice Department's anti-trust and "safe harbour" standards.

The Justice Department has established "safe harbour" standards for benchmarking. In order to be in compliance, a firm must:

  • Be independent
  • Meet a volume threshold
  • Require a minimum number of participants
  • Report benchmarks with a time delay

Forest2Market has received favorable legal opinions from regional, industry-experienced legal council.

  • In the U.S. South: Dewey Ballantine (now Dewey and LeBeouf)
  • In the Pacific Northwest: Sutherland, Asbill & Brennan
