From the November 2009 Forest2Mill newsletter.
As of today, Sam Houston has joined Forest2Market. As Manager of
Supply Chain Services, Sam will manage existing customer relationships and lead new industry-wide
initiatives relative to the supply chain. He will work out of the Forest2Market’s Charlotte, N.C.
headquarters.
Pete Stewart and the rest of the Forest2Market staff are extremely pleased that Houston will
be joining the company. “Forest2Market has grown rapidly in 2008 and 2009,” says Stewart. “We’ve
started offering products for the wood bioenergy industry and we’ve just introduced Mill2Market, a
new lumber pricing service. By hiring Houston to oversee supply chain initiatives and some of our
existing customer relationships, we’re in a much better position to manage our growth.”
Many of you probably know Sam. He’s spent 25 years in the industry—20 of them with
MeadWestvaco—working his way up from manufacturing associate to Manager of Strategic Projects,
where he was responsible for creating strategic and operating plans. His most recent role was as
the Vice President of Finance and Strategy for MeadWestvaco’s Forestry Division, where he was
responsible for finance, accounting, strategy/planning and information technology.
“Sam’s track record demonstrates that there isn’t much he can’t do. He is certainly well
known and liked in the industry. We strongly believe he’ll help us meet our goals for growth
in the future,” said Stewart.
