Author: Forest2Market

TAPPI’s Paper360o Magazine announced in September the debut of a new monthly podcast series: Better Together: Conversations with Innovative Leaders. Hosted by Paper360o Editorial Director Jan Bottiglieri, Better Together offers engaging conversations with the most innovative leaders in the packaging, pulp, paper, tissue and converting industries through wide-ranging interviews on current topics relevant to listeners at every stage of their careers.

The inaugural episode, which aired October 1, featured a discussion with Fisher International’s Matt Elhardt, Vice President, Global Sales.

Listen

Matt shared his thoughts on current global market uncertainty and the ripple effect the pandemic is having on pulp and paper industry, its impact on away-from-home (AFH), at-home (AH), and communications paper products, and how the industry is adapting to the work-from-home (WFH) shift. Matt also talked about scenario planning, driving decisions using data, as well as the role of the industry as an integral part of the circular economy and sustainably supported future. Additional topics Matt addressed include:

  • Using data and analytics to move past periods of corporate inertia
  • Avoiding “four-wall” thinking and confirmation biases to uncover new opportunities
  • Utilizing cost benchmarking to foster a growth mindset
  • Environmental, Social, and Corporate Governance (ESG) initiatives that are shaping corporate and consumer decision-making processes

Editor Bottiglieri noted that, “Matt’s insights were a great way to kick off this series. Our goal is to give our listeners access to some of the best minds in the industry and hear answers to some of the questions that everyone is talking about – and we’ll do it in 30 minutes. We’ll focus on the benefits of knowledge-sharing and connection – that’s what the Better Together podcast is all about.”

The Better Together podcast is available via a number of popular podcasting hosts, including Apple, Spotify, Google, Amazon Alexa and Buzzsprout.
